
Rtn Major Donor Dr. E. K. Sagadhevan & spouse Rtn Dr. E. S. Usha
The young Dr. E. K. Sagadhevan was born on 29th April 1959 as the younger son of Sri. V. Karuppannan, an agriculturalist and Smt. K. Subbulakshmi. Did his schooling and Pre University studies at Erode and completed U. G. at the prestigious Coimbatore Medical College then Mastered in General Surgery at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. Worked as consultant surgeon at V. M. K. Hospital, Sakthi Nagar for three years (1990 & 1993). Then started Deepam Hospital and worked as consultant surgeon for seven years till 2000. Being a man of vision, started a massive Rs 20 Crores project Corporate Hospital in the name and banner of Lotus Hospital and Research Centre limited – an ISO 9001 :2001 certified, 150 bedded hospital at Erode. With 30 doctors and 320 employees and with more than 1, 50, 000 registered patients, it is the only one of it’s kind in this area. He is the founder cum Managing Director of it. He is a director of Milka Group of companies. Being a person thriving for doing innovative and useful service to all kind of societies, he started Lotus Fast track, a P. G. Medical Entrance Coaching Centre for aspiring Doctors at Erode, Chennai and Bangalore, running for the past four years producing many rank holders and help many to enter in various prestigious institutions at All India and State levels.
His Rotary life started way back in 1991 at Rotary Club Sakthi Nagar, Erode Club and became the Charter President Rotary Club of Erode central and held various responsible posts in the club levels in all the three clubs. As the District Chairman in Trauma care, successfully established the Trauma care centers on the National Highway which saved more than 2600 valuable lives. Was the Editor GML (Tamil Version) in 2003-04. Became district Directory Chairman in 2006-07 and brought up the Rotary International directory which attracted acclamation all through.
Attended rotary meeting in other districts and abroad and hosted several GSE team members. Contributed US $ 10000 and became major donor. He has organized several seminars and conferences and the Chairman of the District assembly at Erode which were very much appreciated. He is the publisher of Lotus Medi Magazine, a monthly publication providing Medical and Rotary information to doctors and to public. As a surgeon he performed various successful surgeries and the hall mark of them is the surgery saved a BSNL employee from the brink of death after the penetration of an iron rod through thorax and abdomen. She had a remarkable recovery and gone back to her routine work.
His service to the public in the time of need was well felt when he organized relief measures during the Tsunami disaster with a team of doctors and paramedical persons provided free medicine clothing and food and rendered service to the victims. He is the founder trustee for the project “Aathma” an Electric Crematorium at Erode not only to serve the people but to save nature from pollution. It is a Rs 2 crore project and is getting ready at a fast phase. He is the first person to implement The district Project – Cold storage at Uzhavar santhai (Farmers Market) - at Erode to help the wellbeing of the poor segment of farmers of the surrounding area. Organised various medical camps in which around 2 lakh people got benefited.
His award wardrobe started with Bharat scout – President Award in 1976, Rotaract service award 1980, NSS award in 1982, vocation service award in 2001-02, young achiever award in 2003, Governor’s special award 2001-02, Governor’s special recognition for” Dedicated service” and Governor’s special appreciation and Gold medal for successfully conducting the assembly -2006.
His is a small nucleolus family with a well supporting spouse Dr. Usha an active Rotarian since 2001 who held various District posts in rotary and serving the people of Erode as Obstetric & Gynecological Society as Secretary and president. Daughter, Rohini Sagadhevan, is a third year medical student and son, S. Kumaran is in the first year +2 and having all the qualities of becoming a successful medico.
